Manufacturers that are qualifying this protective cover as a stand alone accessory
shall conduct the following sequence of verification tests:
Visual and mechanical examination
Salt spray
Coupling torque
Humidity
Insulation resistance at ambient temperature
Altitude immersion
Insulation resistance at ambient temperature
Dielectric withstanding voltage at sea level
Temperature cycling
Post test examination.
Manufacturers that are in the process of qualifying MIL-DTL-83538/4 receptacles
concurrently with MIL-DTL-83538/8 protective covers, as well as manufacturers
conducting periodic Group C, shall conduct the following sequence of tests:
Visual and mechanical examination
Salt spray
Coupling torque
Post test examination.
Changes from the previous issue: Marginal notations are not used in this revision to identify changes
with respect to the previous issue due to the extent of the changes.
